About

Welcome!

Hi! I'm Alicia! I am 30 years old, a proud Army wife of over 9 years, and I am a musician. I work primarily as a pianist, composer, and singer.

Baking is one of my many passions, as well as cooking savory foods to balance out the sweetness. I have also recently become enamored with photography, which is a fantastic avenue to combine my love of food with the challenge of presenting it in a beautifully photographic way. I currently shoot with a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera and am hoping to expand my lens collection very soon.

Another great love of mine is that of writing. For as long as I can remember, I have kept hundreds of journals (usually never finished), written countless short stories, and provided articles for amateur newsletters. The beauty of the written word has never ceased to draw me in and I hope to explore it further through this blog.

As I mentioned above, I am happily married to a soldier in the U.S. Army and we are currently stationed in Kansas. Right now, we have 3 dogs and 1 cat!

The reason I first wanted to start a blog was to share some of my recipes and philosophies with the world, and to connect to other people out there with similar interests and goals. So far, I have greatly expanded my network of bloggers and stumbled across some very inspirational people. I've also enjoyed exploring my own style and tendencies. I highly recommend it to anyone who's still on the fence!

As far as food goes, I decided to become a vegetarian in August of 2011 and since then, I have completed the transition to a 100% plant-based diet. I decided to make a change in my eating habits because I was constantly tired, grumpy, and out of energy; eating made me feel so lethargic and bloated that I started dreading meal times. After a lot of research and even more experimentation with different foods, I am finally at a place where I enjoy eating, because it fuels my body rather than dragging it down. In the past year, I have lost almost 60 pounds and have more energy than ever. I have overcome asthma, weak ankles, and chronic joint pains by running, doing pilates, and practicing and studying yoga on a regular basis. I used to be one of those people who always thought I could never be athletic or fit, because it just "wasn't in the cards for me." Boy was I wrong! Everyone can be healthy! It just takes a little motivation and a lot of passion.

In case you can't tell, I am so excited about my lifestyle changes and can't wait to share some new, deliciously vegan recipes with you as I continue on my own journey to healthy living. I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me an email or leave a comment on any of my posts. Thanks for stopping by!
