Oh my goodness, it's almost December! Can you believe how fast this year has flown? I sure can't. I mean... just a few days ago, it was Thanksgiving! (And I didn't post any Thanksgiving recipes -- what is wrong with me?!)
Anyway, I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and were able to find myriad things to be thankful for. I know I did!
In other news, in case you didn't catch it, it's almost December! You know what that means, right? Christmas decorations! This is my favorite time of the year, from all things peppermint, to the smell of pine needles and cinnamon, to shopping for/making Christmas gifts. I love it all... which brings me to a lovely and delicious recipe I'd love to share with you: Halfway Homemade Eggnog.
I say "halfway homemade" because you do actually have to mix the good stuff with some store-bought eggnog to get the desired effect, but trust me. It's totally worth it.
Are you in the holiday spirit yet?! If not, this stuff will convert you. Enjoy!
P.S. I should be studying for finals right now. Instead, I'm sharing eggnog with you. Teehee.
Halfway Homemade Eggnog
Makes 1 gallon
Note: If you are pregnant or vegan (or both), please don't drink this, as it contains raw eggs.
6 eggs
1/2 quart half and half
1 1/2 small cartons heavy whipping cream
3 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 C sugar
1 quart store-bought eggnog
Pinch ground nutmeg
Pinch ground cinnamon
1. Blend first five ingredients in a blender. Make sure the lid is on tight, or you will make a gigantic mess.
2. Pour mixture into a gallon-sized pitcher with lid. Add store-bought eggnog. Make sure the lid is on tight and shake vigorously.
3. Pour into individual glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon.
I've always been afraid to try making homemade eggnog. I like the idea of mixing them for the flavorings.
ReplyDeleteThis is all the way homemade in my books! I loooove eggnog! This sounds awesome!
ReplyDeletei've never had "real" eggnog before...
ReplyDeleteWhat would happen if you didn't mix in the store bought eggnog?
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it without the store-bought eggnog mixed in, but I don't doubt it would be delicious on its own. If you try it, let me know! :)
